Fool Me Once

Fool me once, shame on you.

Fool me twice, shame on me.

Not to be confused with this gem.

Lawrence Of Arabia

Gigglepuss

Daddy's not the only one that does silly things to get this baby to laugh! (However, Dad is the one who rotated this video 90 degrees too far...)

Baby You Can Drive My Car

Lara took these pics during a pit-stop on our drive back to Portland from the coast (where we'd been for Thanksgiving). Owen needed a snack and a break from the car seat. Shortly after these pics were taken, we performed a harrowing but ultimately-successful mid-air diaper change.

Beep-beep, beep-beep, YEAH!

Scratch And Sniff?

Owen has been paying attention to the cats for awhile, but only just recently seems to have "noticed" the dog. Naturally, his response is to try to grab Jackson and put the dog in his mouth. (Nana makes a guest appearance in this video. Sorry for catching you in your nightgown, Nana...)

Irish Eyes...

I took this picture to show off the new hat Auntie Becca got for Owen. However, I also decided after seeing Mom & Owen each smiling in the second picture that Owen has his mother's eyes.

Cheeky Monkey

Here is a sleepy bundle of Owen, having returned downstairs after successfully convincing his mom that it wasn't bedtime yet.

Dudes And Their Babes

What did you think I meant????

These are my friends Ben and Chris, with their kids Ayla (5 months) and Colin (2 weeks). Ben, Chris and I were each born within a span of 9 days, live within a couple miles of one another and (as you can see) each have a new baby.

Cold Feet

Owen's feet got cold on a walk the other day. He found this fact to be quite amusing.

Rice Cereal

Owen has taken nicely to eating solid foods -- which up until now has been iron-fortified rice cereal. He opens his mouth right when he sees the spoon and gets frustrated if it isn't in his mouth within 2 seconds. And when he sees us eating, he studies us and seems to know he's being left out of something.

He likes to get his hands involved, which isn't very helpful. Here you can see me trying to fend off Owen's hands while getting the spoon into his mouth.

Sometimes Owen wins the hands battle...

He'll be 6 months on Saturday and will then be officially cleared (by the American Academy of Pediatrics) to start in on some new solid foods -- like bananas, oatmeal and avocado.

A Trip To The Pumpkin Patch

Owen took a trip to the Pumpkin Patch in Eugene last weekend and donned his new "Stegosaurus" hat for the occasion.

Bumbo!

I'd never heard of a Bumbo before, but Paul found one on craigslist so we're trying it out.  Basically it props Owen up so he can sit since he can't quite do it by himself, which is apparently very frustrating.

I discovered this morning that Bumbo + cats = entertained baby.

Shake That Thang!

Paul & Owen have discovered the "Old School Funk" station on DirectTV.  I'm pretty sure this is what they do all day, every day, cuz man!, check out those dance moves!

If You Are What What You Eat...

...then Owen is part book today. He's snacking on one of the "Indestructibles" books. And they are designed to be just that. They really can't be puntured or torn with the amount of force a baby can apply. And they're waterproof, so they can be cleaned once they're sufficiently gnawed upon.

These came as a "welcome baby" gift from my friend (and former co-worker/manager) Maureen. What a great idea. And what a great gift.

Jogging Stroller

Many thanks to Aunt Jencie for this gift. Owen looks kind of tiny in it, but that's a welcome change since he is so rapidly outgrowing everything else. We've taken a bunch of walks in it -- and even one jog -- and it sure handles the bumps well.

What's Funnier?

The kid laughing? Or what his dad is doing off camera to get him to laugh?

Getting so big!

Owen can't quite sit yet, but he sure wants to.  We started using the booster seat as a play area, which he is really digging.

A Walk In The Park

Here are a couple shots I took of Owen and me on a walk in the park the other. He was a little zonked, but had a nice time watching all the kids playing.

Sweetness

Owen may not always be happy and bubbly, but he certainly does wrap us around his finger when he's in this kind of mood.

Jencie & Gary

Jencie & Gary visited the Northwest back in August. It was great to see them and for them to meet little Owen!

I love my Aunt Jencie & Uncle Gary!

Our pool boy

Owen had his first pool experience this weekend.  We had a nice quick getaway to McMenamin's Grand Lodge in Forest Grove and took a dip in their soaking pool.  Owen was a bit skeptical but Mom & Dad sure thought it was fun!

Nature Boy - Part 4

As much as the pediatrician says it's important for him, we don't really like giving give Owen "tummy time" (i.e., time on his tummy some he can develop different muscles and learn to roll over). It takes Owen about sixty seconds to go from bouncing baby boy to irate infant.
