Owen is getting good at putting his map puzzle together. And for some inexplicable reason, he wants to dance on it every time he finishes it:

Dinosaur sightings
The southern Oregon coast is home to 23 life-sized dinosaurs! Who knew? The Prehistoric Gardens is a family-owned & operated roadside attraction that opened in 1955 and is, surprisingly, pretty neat. Owen was in heaven, except that he was kind of scared of the gigantic brachiosaurus (47 ft tall and 70 ft long).

Oregon Coast
We spent Saturday & Sunday nights on Agate Beach in Port Orford (about an hour up the coast from the California border).
Jackson gets pretty worn out these days after a brief run in the sand.
There were fantastic rock formations to climb on.

Toddler-sized hikes
Not that we are terribly outdoorsy anyway, but a 2yo definitely can't handle much in the way of hiking. And given that Owen must be approaching 40 lbs now, we can't handle carrying him on a hike. Nonetheless we found a few really nice short walks, including this one where the Rogue River briefly goes through a lava tube.
Another reason Owen doesn't get carried too often: he has a knack for turning a bad camping-hair day into a really bad camping-hair day...

Camping
Camping in a T@b is posh! We borrowed the Tias' camper for the long weekend. It was an adventure for sure.
Owen liked camping, but the virtual parent (as Paul and I refer to the iPad guiltily) was omnipresent.
Oregon dromedary?!
Owen took his mommy & daddy on a 5 day Oregon vacation. First stop: Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon. He and daddy rode "Frank," the resident camel, er, dromedary. (Grandpa insists that Owen know the difference!)
