Music Soothes The Savage Beast

The Tias gave Owen this swing. It's got built-in music that he seems to enjoy.

A comb and a brush and...

I'm still not entirely sure how, but we've taken to calling Owen "Mush" -- and various permutations like Musher, Mr. Mush, Mush-asaurus. (OK, I made that last one up.) I think this one is on me, not Lara.

Part of it has to do with his tendency -- probably like all infants -- to curl up into a cute, pliable and minimally-responsive little ball. I also may be drawing from a hazy recollection of a term some college friends (Claire!) used for cute little babies. And of course, there is that wonderful line from my favorite children's book, Goodnight Moon -- "a comb and a brush and a bowl full of mush".

Tia Andrea and Owen took a nap together this week.  Owen must be having really good dreams - he likes to show off his new smiling skills while sleeping.

July 4th

Auntie Sarah hosted a lovely BBQ at her place for the 4th.  Paul manned the grill, our friend Deb brought a salad and Uncle Brett provided the watermelon.  What a beautiful day it was!
